Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs round steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: gravy mix or cornstarch slurry for thickening

Method
 

  1. Season steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak 2–3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove steak; sauté onions and garlic until softened.
  4. Add beef broth and return steak to pan.
  5. Oven: Cover and bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1–1.5 hours.
  6. Stovetop: Simmer covered on low for 1–1.5 hours.
  7. Crockpot: Cook on low for 6–8 hours with onions, garlic, and broth.
  8. Optional: Thicken gravy with cornstarch slurry before serving.
  9. Slice steak against the grain; serve with gravy.

Notes

  • Sear the steak well to lock in juices.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge up to 3 days or frozen for longer.
