Dry Peas Recipe | Easy Indian Style

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried green peas soaked overnight
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies sliced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Method
 

  1. Soak peas – Wash and soak dried green peas overnight in water.
  2. Cook peas – Drain and pressure cook the peas with fresh water until soft but not mushy.
  3. Make masala – Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, onion, and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and prepare for 1 minute.
  5. Add tomatoes and all dry spices. Cook until oil separates.
  6. Mix peas – Add boiled peas into the masala. Stir and cook for 8–10 minutes.
  7. Adjust salt and garnish with fresh coriander.

Notes

  • Fastest and most convenient way to cook peas.
  • Takes 2–3 whistles after soaking.
  • Set pressure cook for 12–15 minutes.
  • Gives even cooking and saves time.
  • Traditional style but takes longer, about 45–50 minutes.
  • Best if you want a slow-cooked flavor.
